First and foremost, I want to hear what is troubling you and why you reached out. I may ask a few follow-up questions to make sure I think I can be helpful. I then share a little bit about my approach, and give you the chance to ask any questions to help you feel comfortable with moving forward. If you'd like to work together, we'll schedule your initial appointment.

In my experience, clients see the most benefit when they are able to commit to weekly or biweekly therapy sessions upfront. This allows me to get to know you and your unique challenges, and tailor tools to help. It’s difficult to build momentum working together every few weeks or once a month. Clients often see significant improvement within 3-4 months, but your therapy may be longer or shorter depending on your goals. Clients then reduce their number of sessions as they start to feel better.

Throughout my years as a therapist, I have found that therapy is not one-size-fits-all, so I use an integrative approach based on your specific concerns and goals. I've seen the greatest results when we take BOTH a top down and bottom up approach (meaning focusing on how our thinking affects our emotions and sensory experiences, and how sensory input can shape our thoughts and feelings). I also really like evidence and research, so I know that what we are doing together can be as effective as possible.
I want to hear from you throughout our work together on what is and isn't working- after all, I am here for YOU, so always welcome your feedback. Find homework helpful? I'm happy to assign it. Don't need one more task to do? I understand that too. This is your therapy, and needs to work for you. My education and training is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I am Internal Family Systems Informed, and use Somatic Therapy exercises as well.

It's important to state that no therapy is guaranteed to work, though I try very hard to help you achieve your goals and live your life to the fullest. I am very flexible and will change course or refer you out if what we're doing together isn't helping. Your well-being is my number one priority.

I currently provide online therapy (telehealth). It can be as effective as in person therapy, and has the added benefit of being very convenient for you and your schedule. I host our appointments on a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform that is very user friendly. If you're not sure about virtual therapy, I encourage you to give it a try.
